• Scholarship Rail Cruise A Big Success Scholarship Rail Cruise A Big Success Over 150 corporate members and MBEs were on board for the Scholarship Rail Cruise on October 9th. As the train departed St. Louis Union Station, all participants could feel good knowing their contributions would help MBEs attend specialized programs at schools such as the Amos Tuck School of Business Administration at Dartmouth College and the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. Plus everyone had a great time and enjoyed a delicious, full-course dinner, live entertainment and unparalleled networking opportunities during this exciting, four-hour train excursion. We are pleased to announce that new corporate members will be joining the St. Louis Minority Business Council. A dozen new companies attended the recruiting meeting on October 6th at the Hyatt Regency at Union Station. We especially want to welcome two companies that joined that evening, Corporate Express and Kozeny-Wagner. This is your final opportunity to nominate members for the Minority Business Enterprise Input Committee (MBEIC). We ask that you nominate a SLMBC certified business owner/partner who will represent your best interests in helping define the future direction of the programs for the Council. Elections will be held on November 10 at 5:30pm at T.A.B. Company, 5561 Enright Avenue. Fax your completed nominations to the Council (314-241-1073) no later than October 29, 2004. SLMBC conducts this annual event to honor outstanding Minority Business Enterprises, as well as members of the corporate community, which have excelled in the development of Minority Business Enterprises in our region. This event is also one of the key fundraisers for the Council, enabling it to continue the services and programs provided to corporate members and minority-owned businesses. The SLMBC Excellence Awards will be presented at a special luncheon December 1 at the Renaissance Grand Hotel from 11:30am – 1:30pm. Please join us for this special occasion where we will honor both corporations and MBEs for their excellent contributions.
