SLMBC Wins National BCF Star
Award SLMBC Wins National The St. Louis Minority Business Council (SLMBC) was the only recipient among 39 councils to receive the Business Consortium Fund (BCF) Star Award at the recent National Minority Supplier Development Council conference in Chicago. The BCF provides access to capital and financial services to minority businesses including loan guarantees and financing to certified MBEs up to $750,000. The BCF recognized the SLMBC for its innovative program development and integration of BCF services into the Council's existing loan programs. The Council exposes members and affiliates to the benefits of the BCF and also acts as an information resource to MBEs on financial issues such as cash flow, financing options and financial management. David Steward, founder and chairman of World Wide Technology, Inc., will discuss his new book at the Council's Education Series Seminar Wednesday, December 10, 2003. The seminar will be at Harris Stowe State College in the Telecommunity Room in the Library building. A reception will begin at 8:30 am followed by the program at 9:00. "DOING BUSINESS BY THE GOOD BOOK, Fifty-two Lessons on Success, Straight from the Bible," by Steward and Robert L. Shook, is scheduled for publication by Hyperion, a division of Disney, in March 2004. The forward is written by former President George H. Bush. Tony Trupiano, Network Vice President of Material Management for SSM Health Care -St. Louis, is the newest board member of the St. Louis Minority Business Council. Trupiano oversees supply chain activities for the St. Louis region of SSM Health Care, which includes seven hospitals, 14 outpatient facilities and 130 physician practices. Trupiano has been with SSM Health Care for more than 22 years.
